OVERVIEW
Founded in Paris in 1921, Amilcar quickly established a reputation for producing lightweight, engaging sporting cars that bridged the gap between cyclecars and more serious voiturettes. By the mid-1920s, the CS emerged as a more focused and capable offering, often referred to as a “poor man’s Bugatti” thanks to its accessible performance and competition spirit.
This example, chassis 9175, was originally delivered to the UK and registered as “YN 16”, retaining an important link to its early history. By 1930, the car had travelled to Malaya, later residing in Singapore before returning to Europe and eventually entering long-term collector ownership.
During its life, the car has benefitted from restoration and mechanical recommissioning, including an engine rebuild, ensuring it remains both presentable and usable today. Finished in an attractive green scheme, it presents as a well-maintained example of a rare and characterful pre-war sports car.
