MORE ABOUT THIS CLASSIC...
Rolling off the production line in Summer 1973, finished in Heather over Cerise trim, a unique colour combination, not commonly seen, is this stunning Series 3 V12 Roadster. Delivered new and sold through approved London dealer, Philip Richards, October the same year, E-type was issued with London registration SYH220N.
This original right-hand drive remained in the UK for the next 15 years, passing hands and being enjoyed thoroughly across the United Kingdom. It was early 1988 the E-type was purchased by Mr French of Warrington, who decided to fully restore this classic V12. Jaguar specialists, Vicarage Motor Cars, of Wolverhampton were given the task of returning this iconic roadster back to its former glory.
Leaving no stone unturned, E-type was subjected to metalwork, replacing its corroded bonnet and various other body repairs, before the E-type was finished in the charming and striking Jaguar Signal Red you see today. 3 years later the E-type Roadster was finished and supplied to an eagerly waiting owner, accompanied by a full restoration invoice file and a photographic record. Mr French owned and enjoyed the E-type until his passing 5 years later.
In the following years, the E-type exchanged hands multiple times, but always remained in the UK, documenting countless maintenance invoices throughout and even retaining its factory-issued London registration.
In Summer 2010 the E-type arrived in the hands of Mr Lindsay, located in Folkestone. It was at this time the E-type had been fitted with a private plate and taken to E-Type UK, leading Jaguar E-type specialists, in Hadlow, Kent, for the E-types second overhaul. Between 2011 and 2012, Mr Lindsay spent in excess of £50,000 with E-Type UK to enhance the driving ability of the car, seeing the following upgrades fitted:
- Electronic fuel injection
- Uprated suspension including torsion bars, anti-roll bar and shocks
- Electronic ignition
- Aluminium radiator, header tank and silicone hoses
- AP racing front brakes with four-pot callipers
- Garage parking sensors
Alongside these upgrades attention was also given to other areas of the E-type, seeing a full interior retrim undertaken, finishing the cabin in Black and contrasting Red accent piping. To finish off the E-types time with E-Type U.K, the Roadster had some minor paintwork blemishes resolved and IRS fully rebuilt.
In late 2012 the E-type was offered for sale through E-Type UK, achieving a sale in early 2013 to the cars current custodian. As part of the deal, the E-type was sold without its private plate and registered with a new DVLA issue plate current on the car today.
Over the last 9 years of ownership, the E-type has been meticulously cared for and lovingly used. Proudly displayed at countless events and participated in several classic car rallies. In more recent years the E-type has had its original automatic gearbox replaced with a more desirable 5-speed gearbox, as well as a high torque starter and performance run completed, recording the V12 to be putting out an impressive 273 BHP.
Today the E-type can be seen in exceptional condition, a clear result of careful ownership by true classic car enthusiasts. Since the E-type has been finished to a reliable and high-performance specification, this Roadster drives as good as it looks. A true driver’s car and one that must be driven to be appreciated. The E-type is accompanied by an impressive history file, which includes a photographic record of the cars restoration and more recent finish.
