HISTORY | JAGUAR XK140 'SE'

Having rolled off the Browns Lane production line in January 1957, this XK140 MC, or as more commonly known SE (Special Equipment), was completed in Carmen Red over Black leather, later delivered to Jaguar Cars in New York to be sold to its first owner, a Mr Enright JNR of New York. It is understood in the early years, the XK made its way down the East Coast arriving in Palm Beach 1974, highlighted by the accompanying copy of the Florida Motor Vehicle Title of the time.

Some 40 years later the XK arrived home to its country of manufacture and upon its return, it was decided to breathe life back into this rare find, therefore in early 2017, a full ground-up restoration was actioned by a South Bank, London based classic car specialist.

The bodywork was stripped to bare metal, repaired and fully repainted to the exceptional Metallic Ice Blue you see today. Pleasingly this desirable example was treated to a full reconditioning of it 3.4-litre engine with accompanying C-type cylinder head, all professionally rebuilt by a Jaguar specialist to the tune of over £16,000, invoices documented in the provided history folder. All remaining mechanicals were either restored or replaced, leading the chassis ready to be fully retrimmed to a perfectly paired Harbour Grey and Charcoal carpets, thus completing the transformation late in 2018.

This showroom condition XK140 is supplied with the owner's detailed history file which contains a period ‘XK140 spares catalogue’, current V5, old MOT Certificates, copies from the Jaguar archives and countless restoration invoices (parts and labour).
