Raw, Rare, and Increasingly Recognised
The MG XPower SV-R has always sat slightly outside the mainstream.
Built in extremely limited numbers and powered by a naturally aspirated Ford-derived V8, it was a bold attempt to position MG in a very different space — one defined by performance, presence, and low-volume exclusivity.
At the time, it was misunderstood.
Today, it’s being looked at differently.
This example, one of just 42 SV-R models produced, combines ultra-low mileage with a rare Grigio Titanium finish and the more aggressive aero package. It represents the kind of specification and condition that collectors are now beginning to focus on.
Not a mass-produced performance car.
Something far more individual.

OUR VIEW
Cars like the XPower SV-R tend to go through a cycle.
Initially misunderstood, then overlooked, and eventually reappraised for what they actually are — low-production, characterful cars that offer something fundamentally different to their more conventional contemporaries.
The key, as always, is the individual example.
Specification, mileage, and originality matter significantly with these cars. Poorly kept examples quickly lose their appeal, while the right cars — low mileage, correct spec, strong presentation — begin to stand apart.
This was one of those.
A rare colour combination, limited production status, and a level of condition that supports long-term collectability all combined to position this as one of the more interesting examples available.
At DM Historics, we look for cars that sit slightly outside the obvious — cars that require a level of understanding, but reward it.
This was one of them.
