Early Alfa Romeo 1750 GTVs have long been recognised as one of the most usable and rewarding classic coupes of their era.

Light, communicative and mechanically engaging, they offer a driving experience that still feels relevant today. But like many cars of this type, the real difference lies in how well they’ve been restored and developed.

This example stood out for exactly that reason.

Sourced from Australia and imported to the UK in 2014, the car benefitted from a previous restoration before being further refined under UK ownership using a considered programme of Alfaholics and specialist upgrades. The approach wasn’t about modification for its own sake, but about improving the car where it matters — braking, suspension and drivability — while retaining the character of an early Series 1 car.

There are plenty of 105-series Alfas on the market, but very few that feel properly sorted.

Too many are either over-restored and lose their character, or under-developed and never quite deliver on what they promise. This car sat firmly in the middle — retaining the feel of an early GTV, but with the mechanical confidence to actually use it.

The Alfaholics upgrades are well judged and widely regarded as the benchmark for these cars, transforming the way they drive without compromising originality.

Ultimately, this was a car that did exactly what a GTV should: start cleanly, drive sharply and encourage you to use it.

That’s why it found a home quickly.
