The 1978 Aston Martin V8 Vantage, commonly known as 'Britain's Muscle car' and at the time, the fastest car in the world became the first true British Supercar. The V8 Vantage with its top speed of 170mph, high-performance camshafts, increased compression ratio and bigger carburettors for increased output hailed the Aston Martin to be the best of its time for straight-line performance, 0-60mph in 5.3 seconds topping even the Ferrari Daytona.
DM Historics took on this iconic example of a 1978 Aston Martin V8 Vantage tasked to give it a new lease on life with a full bare metal colour change. The Aston underwent an exterior strip down removing all exterior chrome fittings, doors, bonnet and boot panels, in preparation for body and filler work to commence.
Once stripped and prepared the V8 Vantage was ready for the filler room, we started taking the car back to bare metal. During this process, all and any body issues were addressed and once the Aston was taken through to the filler room were fixed. The bodywork team started correcting bodywork imperfections and ensuring the car retained its original perfect gaps and body lines.
The Vantage then was taken to our professional, high specification, high-performance spray booth to undergo its transformation to 'Storm Red'. Once the new colour finish had been applied the Aston Martin was brought back into the workshop to start assembly of its original exterior chrome, doors and remaining panels.
Then the Aston was done! With its beautiful new coachwork, bare metal respray, original black interior and powerful engine,
we achieved our goal of producing an incredible finish to this head turning part of history.
